Hi there!
I am Giovanni Maggi, thank you for visiting my website. I am currently a PhD candidate and Mini-ARC fellow at the Centre d'Étude de la Vie Politique (CEVIPOL) of the Université Libre de Bruxelles. Under the supervision of Prof. Pietro Castelli Gattinara, my thesis is focused on understanding the discursive mainstreaming of the far-right and its effects on mainstream public discourse.
At the crossroads of digital media studies, political communication, political sciences, and sociology, my research concentrates on understanding how new technologies are leveraged as possibilities to initiate change in public discourses. I investigate these topics using computational social science techniques, scraping digital trace data and modelling discursive fields using a combination of network anaysis and natural language processing.
I hold a BA in Philosophy, International, and Economic Studies from Ca' Foscari University of Venice and a research Master's in Digital, New Technology, and Public Policy from the Institut d'Études Politiques (Sciences Po) in Paris.
